Design, Build, and Actually Fly a Micro Airplane

Airplane engineering class grades 6+ Corona CA. Micro-Airplane Engineering is a project-based aerospace class for grades 4–7 where students design, assemble, and fly their own rubber-powered micro-airplanes from scratch. It’s one of the most hands-on modules NovaEd AeroLab offers — students walk away with a functional aircraft they built themselves, understanding every design decision that made it fly.

Physics and Engineering in Every Build

Building a working microairplane requires students to apply real aerodynamic concepts: wing shape and lift, propulsion mechanics, fuselage balance, and drag minimization. Each flight becomes a data point — students observe what happens, make design adjustments, and test again. The iterative process mirrors real aerospace engineering workflows. Prerequisites: Modules A and/or B Recommended

This is Module C in the Level 2 series. Students who have completed Aerodynamics & Flight Engineering (2A) or Into the Sky: Rocketry Begins (2B) will have the strongest foundation, though motivated newcomers are welcome. Culminates in a Fly-Off Event

The module ends with a Fly-Off showcase where students compete and demonstrate their micro-airplane designs.
