Aerospace summer camp for kids in Corona and Orange California — students working on aircraft engineering projects

Real Aerospace Engineering — Not Generic STEM

Our aerospace summer camp in Corona, CA and our aerospace camp in Orange County give young aspiring engineers something most STEM camps can’t: a curriculum designed and taught by working aerospace engineers with decades of experience at Boeing, Collins Aerospace, and Virgin Galactic.

Students engage in real engineering — designing, building, and test-flying their own balsa wood aircraft while learning the same aerodynamics, propulsion, and structural principles used in actual aviation and spacecraft programs.

What Students Will Build & Experience

Minimal lecture — maximum hands-on engineering

🪵

Real Wood Aircraft Kits

Students build balsa and wood-based aircraft — not quick crafts. Meaningful work that fills the full 8 hours each week of camp.

✈️

One Airplane Per Week

Every week is self-contained. Students complete and take home a fully built model aircraft by the end of each session.

Powered Flight Testing

Motors and electronics installed in class for real powered flight. Families can purchase electronics to keep flying at home.

🔬

Real Engineering Concepts

Lift, drag, structures, stability — taught through building, not textbooks. Same principles used by working aerospace engineers.

A STEM Summer Camp Where Dreams Take Flight

For kids who love airplanes, rockets, and how things work, this is the summer aerospace engineering program that turns curiosity into capability. Across three weeks, campers progress from simple gliders to advanced powered-flight aircraft — building real engineering intuition through projects, not lectures.

Whether your child is just discovering an interest in flight or already dreams of designing aircraft, our summer camp in Inland Empire and Orange County meets them where they are. Small group sizes, individual instructor attention, and a curriculum built around real aerospace concepts ensure every student leaves more capable than when they arrived.

Weekly Progression

Each week builds on the last — students who attend all three weeks complete the full aerospace engineering arc

Week 1
Simple Gliders & Basic Structures
Week 2
Intermediate Aircraft Builds
Week 3
Advanced Models + Powered Flight

Powered flight included in class — shared electronics installed temporarily for testing. Students take the plane home.

🎯 Summer camp is a natural pathway into our regular fall aerospace engineering classes — students arrive already knowing the fundamentals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from parents considering NovaEd AeroLab’s aerospace summer camp

Who teaches the aerospace summer camp?
NovaEd AeroLab’s summer camp is taught by working aerospace engineers with decades of professional experience — not generic camp counselors. Founder and Chief Instructor Dr. Yasser Abdel-Aziz has 30+ years of aerospace engineering experience including roles at Boeing, Collins Aerospace, and Virgin Galactic’s space program.
What age range is the summer aerospace camp for?
Our aerospace engineering summer camp is designed for kids ages 6 to 16. Students are grouped by skill level — early elementary builders work on simpler glider designs, while older students tackle advanced powered aircraft. Every camper, regardless of age, takes home an airplane they built themselves.
Where is the summer camp located?
We offer two convenient Southern California locations: Corona (4234 Green River Rd, 2:00–4:00 PM) and Orange (4:30–6:30 PM). Families across the Inland Empire, Riverside County, and Orange County can attend whichever location works best.
What dates does the 2026 summer camp run?
Camp I runs June 15 – July 2, 2026. Camp II runs July 13 – July 30, 2026. Both camps meet Monday through Thursday, 2 hours per day, totaling 24 hours of instruction across each 3-week session. Families can enroll in one, two, or all three weeks per camp.
How is NovaEd’s aerospace camp different from other STEM summer camps?
Most STEM camps offer a sampler of activities — code one day, robotics the next, slime on Friday. NovaEd AeroLab is aerospace-specialized. Every project, every concept, every tool ties to real aircraft engineering. Students don’t just play with kits — they design and build functional aircraft using the same principles applied in commercial and space programs.
Does my child need prior experience to join the aerospace camp?
No prior experience is required. Week 1 starts with simple gliders and basic flight principles — accessible to total beginners. Returning students or kids with prior STEM/aerospace exposure are placed at the right level so they’re challenged, not bored.
How do I save $60 per child on summer camp?
